The Story of  The Chinese Zodiac

Long time ago, in a far away land….

There was a race.

When the race was over, the first 12 animals were named to the zodiac.

Many animals joined the race hoping to win.

Let’s hear the laoshu the rat’s story of the race.

Laoshu the rat is a small animal.

Laoshu the rat is smart.

Laoshu the rat is an inventor of ideas.

The lastest invention the rat is working on is a flying machine.

He plans to call this machine a “helicopter”.

One day Laoshu the rat received a letter in the mail about a race tomorrow.

Laoshu did not think that he could win the race with his small siz.

With his new machine, maybe he could win by flying!

Then the phone rang.

It was Laohu the tiger calling the rat.

Laohu the tiger asked the rat to go out to dinner.

When the rat arrived, mao the cat was also at the restaurant with the tiger.

The tiger told stories of his adventures and how he will win tomorrow.

Suddenly there was a bang!

“What is that!”

Screamed the rat.

“There is nothing there,” said the cat.

“The rat’s eyes are so small the can’t see!”

The tiger and the cat laughed at the rat.

They did not care about the rat’s feelings.

Laoshu the rat was angry that everybody laughed at him because he was small.

The rat went home to sleep.

He hoped to win with his helicopter tomorrow!

The next morning, Laoshu the rat got in his helicopter.

He started the engine, and it turned on!

The helicopter worked!

He was flying!

The rat arrived at the finish, but nobody was there.

Then the Niu the Ox showed up at the finish line.

The Ox congratulated the rat for finishing first!

Laoshu the rat thought to himself: “ I have won! Being small did not stop me from being smart!”
